Dr. Fell and Dr. Borenstein are a mother-daughter orthodontic team who treat children, teens and adults in and around Culver City.
About the Doctors:
Dr. Vacharee Fell has practiced in Culver City for more than 20 years. She specializes in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics for children and adults. She completed her postdoctoral training in Orthodontics at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she received her Master of Science degree and Certification in Orthodontics from its School of Dentistry.
In 1989, she achieved board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Board certification is the culmination of a 5-10 year process of written and oral examination and an independent review of treated patients. This distinction is held by approximately 25% of practicing orthodontists. While maintaining a full-time private practice, she holds an academic appointment at the UCLA School of Dentistry, Orthodontics Department. In addition to teaching in the clinic part time, she helped to develop and now teaches the course for the UCLA orthodontics residents to prepare them for ABO Certification.
Dr. Krisena Borenstein joined the practice over a year ago. She is a highly qualified orthodontist having received her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis, her dental degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and her certification in orthodontics and masters in oral biology from UCLA.
In her 3-year orthodontic residency at UCLA, Dr. Borenstein was trained in removable and fixed orthodontics for children and adults. She has experience in all types of cases including surgical cases, two-phase cases involving growth modification, and treatment of patients with craniofacial anomalies. She also has worked with many types of treatment mechanics such as traditional edge-wise brackets, self-ligating brackets, mini-implants, removable appliances and Invisalign. Dr. Borenstein did her master's research on the Damon System, which is the major treatment modality used by Dr. Fell.
